M.U.G.E.N (also known simply as MUGEN) is a freeware 2D Fighting Game Engine designed by Elecbyte, that allows us to create personalized fighting games. Everything can be customized, from the game's design, to the characters, stages and sounds. MUGEN has been around since 1999, but it has been improved through time, the latest stable build being version 1.0. Since then thousands of fighters, both original and from popular fiction, have been created.
